Welcome to eUttaranchal Blog!

Objective
The objective behind developing “eUttaranchal Blog” is to provide a platform to share the eUttaranchal development process and announce the upcoming features!

History of eUttaranchal
The journey of eUttaranchal begin in Mar 2003 while I registered the domain euttaranchal.com. Founding a domain name that could represent the identity of whole Uttaranchal over the World Wide Web (WWW) was not an easy task for me at that time. I was a just a beginner in the world of Internet when the idea of creating an Uttaranchal identity on the web strike my mind.

The website started with few static pages containing general information about Uttaranchal. I didn’t had much financial resources to host this website so I decided to host it over a free host supported by Ads.

Later in May 2004, I added few pages to the website and the special edition of “eUttaranchal Matrimonial” was also released. The website was now moved to Economical Host as I needed database support to run Matrimonials service.

The start of “eUttaranchal Matrimonials” wasn’t encouraging and I had to wait for weeks to get my first registered member at eUttaranchal Matrimonials. Special thanks to Kaustubh Paliwal and Sabita Dobhal who were the first male and female registration respectively. Today eUttaranchal Matrimonials have over 4000 live profiles with 4-10 members joining everyday and its among the most visited section of the website!

In Sep 2004, I revamped the whole website and added lots many content and photographs to the website to make it more appealing and useful. Thanks to Deepak Bisht Harendra Kharkwal and Chandan Dangi who provided me some useful books, information, links and resouces about Uttaranchal. The “Kumaon Himalaya Temptations”, “Uttaranchal Year Book 2004″, “Pahar”, “Pithoragarh: An Adventure into Beauty and Bliss” were among the few books that proved very useful to me during this time.

The special release of Kumaoni and Garhwali lessons with this revision of website was well appreciated by the visitors. Unfortunately the lessons are not updated since long though I had plans to release audio lessons to help visitors learn Kumaoni and Garhwali. The wallpapers that I scanned through Uttaranchal Calendar were also liked by the visitors. I managed to get over 30 beautiful photographs of Uttaranchal from various sources.

By Nov 2004, I shifted the website to Netfirms to meet the bandwidth needs of the website. The website was having over 2000 pageviews a day by this time and the restricted bandwidth limit of 500MB was not enough to server that much number of visits.

In July 2005, “Uttaranchal Ringtones” were introduced on the website to offer free Garhwali/Kumaoni ringtones to the mobile users. The idea performed beyond expectations. As of now, over 5000 ringtones have been sent to the visitors.

As the website went on growing with lots of new pages being added every week, the naviagation of the website became difficult day by day. I started thinking the second revison of the website layout to give a better user experience and improve the usability aspects of the website.

I faced a set back when some of my important website data got lost and I found it a good reason to switch over the hosting service from Netfirms to Lunarpages, somewhere in Nov 2005.

eUttaranchal was successful in making its own identity over the World Wide Web especially among the Uttaranchalis. Several hundered appreciation emails and phone calls boosted me to worked harder towards achieving my eUttaranchal Dream.

By 09 Nov 2006 , the new design was ready with hundreds of new pages to be published on the website. It was Uttaranchal formation day so I took off from the office and released the new version of eUttaranchal.

In the later part of Jan 2007, the improved version of eUttaranchal Matrimonials was released with many add on features which were requested by the users in the previous 2 years.

Here the history of eUttaranchal meets the present and heads towards the future!

The future is a yet larger dream and the roads wide open welcoming to aboard!

The culture and tradition of our beloved “Dev Bhoomi”
Uttaranchal is a dreem for others. It inspired to all
those who visits our Uttaranchal. I hope the new gene-
ration of Uttaranchal will preserve our culture and
tradition which is not found any where in the world
other than our ” Dev Bhoomi” which is gifted to us
by nature and God. Also I would like to request to
Govt as well as NGOs to preserve the environment from
    pollution of tourist places.
